Privacy policy

Your day stays on your phone.

Yaplog records, transcribes, stores, and answers questions about your day entirely on your device. There is no account, and we do not receive your recordings, transcripts, or questions. The app's only internet use is downloading AI models.

Microphone and recordings

Yaplog asks for microphone access so it can log speech while you have listening switched on. It does not listen when listening is off. While it is on, it writes short audio clips only when it detects speech, and skips silence. Your phone's system shows that the microphone is in use; on Android, a notification stays visible while Yaplog is listening in the background.

Each clip is transcribed on your phone by an on-device speech model. By default the audio is deleted as soon as it has been transcribed. If you turn on "Keep audio after transcribing" in Settings, recordings are kept on your phone for the period and size limit you choose, and the oldest are deleted first.

Transcripts and questions

Transcripts are stored in a database inside the app on your phone. When you ask a question, an AI model running on your phone searches your log and writes the answer. Your chats are stored on your phone too. None of this is sent to us or to any AI service.

Recordings can capture the voices of other people near you. That information is also kept only on your phone, and you are responsible for recording lawfully and respectfully (see our Terms).

Downloading AI models

Yaplog does not include its speech and chat models in the download. When you pick a model, the app downloads it from Hugging Face, a third-party model host. That request, like any download, shares ordinary connection information (such as your IP address and the file requested) with Hugging Face and your network provider, under their own privacy policies. No recordings, transcripts, or questions are included. You can limit downloads to Wi-Fi in Settings.

What we don't do

• No account, sign-in, or profile.
• No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in the app.
• No uploading of your audio, transcripts, questions, or answers.
• No selling or sharing of personal information.

Backups

On Android, Yaplog opts out of system app backup. On iPhone, your device backup (iCloud or a computer backup) may include the app's data, depending on your backup settings. Those backups are handled by Apple under your own account and settings.

Your control

In Settings you can delete saved recordings, or delete your whole log, including transcripts and chats. You can clear an individual chat or delete a single note from the day list. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your phone. Because we never receive this data, we cannot access, recover, or delete it for you.

When you visit this website

This website does not use advertising trackers or cookies. We count visits with Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that we host ourselves. It records pages viewed, referring sites, and general browser, device, and country information, without cookies and without identifying you. It runs only on this website, never in the app. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes ordinary connection information such as your IP address, requested pages, and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to answer you, and keep it only as long as needed to resolve your request or meet legal obligations. Please don't send us recordings or transcripts unless you need to.

Children

Yaplog is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the use of personal information we hold. Since the app keeps your data on your device, these mainly apply to emails you send us. Contact yaplog@neu.so to make a request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this policy and the date above before the change takes effect, and give additional notice where the law requires it.
